Last Saturday marked the end of the MAPS International High Inter-House Futsal Tournament 2014 with a cheerful ceremony at Henveiru Stadium. With the shadow of midterm examinations looming so close, the tournament doubled as a last chance for students to loosen up and relax while also building teamwork and talent. The tournament was overall a success in all the aspects, bringing out more than 80% of the student population to attend all the matches during the weekend.

In the traditional spirit of friendly competitiveness, the three houses – Entrepreneurs, Innovators and Achievers – each brought out a male team of 6 and a female team of 5. The tournament was played out in a group format, with the male teams playing against each other twice, and the female teams once.

Despite (or perhaps even due to) the strong competitive spirit, there was exceptional discipline observed during the tournament as a whole. The Fair Play Team awards went to the Innovators male team and the Achievers female team.

Innovators came second with 3 points while Achievers female team had no points.

Finally, in the final matches, the boys originally tied with one goal each, going on to penalty where Entrepreneurs took the gold medals with 4 goals against the Achievers one goal. Meanwhile, after a fierce match the girls at Entrepreneurs took the gold medal, like their counterparts, with 2 goals against the Innovators one goal.
