MAPS International High School conducted a Dharus for the students on 1st August 2012
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard against evil.” [2:183]
The Quran (Chapter 2, Verse 183) prescribes fasting as a means of acquiring Taqwaa – a faithful and conscious connection with God. Thus, fasting during Ramadan has a deep spiritual dimension — of compassion, of self-sacrifice and of introspection.
It is to reach this message to the younger generation; MAPS International High School conducted a Dharus for the students on 1st August 2012. It was indeed blessed moments for the students of MAPS International High, when Sheikh Mohamed Sinan, a scholar in Islam, enlightened students with the views on the importance of the Holy month. He delivered a profound speech for the students and students were given chance to question.
It is being conducted as a part of series of programmes for the holy month of Ramadan. MAPS I High organized another Dharus, by the theme “Iffai theri Jeeleh Fakka Kurun” on 5th August 2012. Sheikh Ali Zahir presented the speech for the students while students ensured their active participation clarifying their doubts and queries.
Inter-house Madhaha competition and Islam Quiz which are also being organized as a part of month long programmes, will be conducted on 7th and 8th of August 2012.
In the new era, developing a generation sensible to the values of Islam is of prime importance and let us hope that programmes being conducted as the part of holy month will have great impact on the future generation.
