MAPS International High Students’ Association (MIHSA)
MAPS International High Students’ Association (MIHSA) is an internal student body for which students automatically receives their membership when they join the MAPS International High. This page provides information about the MIHSA, its governing structure, rules and responsibility of the Executive Committee and election procedures.

The purpose of this association is to provide leadership and direction towards an overall goal of improving our school and community. The students’ association shall:
- Promote and adhere to Islamic values and accepted Dhivehi culture.
- Promote and obey school and national rules and regulations.
- Provide and maintain a liaison between the student bodies, teachers and administrators, and join together the student body and the administration and serve as one voice.
- Plan and organize events, competitions, tournaments, exhibitions and so on to promote the students leadership and creativity.
- Provide a means by which the principles of democracy and good citizenship may be learned and practiced.
- Promote the general welfare of the student body and the school.
- Provide opportunities for students to serve the community through public service.
The following is the organisational chart of the MAPS International High Students Association’s Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is comprised of 2 appointed members and 12 elected members. All members shall hold office for one academic year.
The school management will appoint;
1. School Captain
2. Deputy School Captain
The school will nominate names for the following posts and student will elect.
3. President
4. Vice-President
5. Secretary General
6. Treasurer
7. President of English Club
8. President of Dhi-Islam Club
9. President of Business Club
10. President of Social Club
11. Captain of Achievers House
12. Captain of Entrepreneur House
13. Captain of Innovators House
Note: If any president of a club or captain of any house is not able to attend the meeting for any reason, vice president or vice captain is entailed to attend the meeting as representative. And in this case vice president or vice captain will have voting power too.
Procedure for Election of the MIHSA Executive Committee.
- Members of Executive Committee will be filled separately, by one vote per student for each of the posts at the beginning of the school academic year in a general election of the MAPS International High Students’ Association.
- Any student interested in becoming the member of the Executive Committee of the Student Association for the year must submit his/her name by filling specified application form along with CV, National ID, Passport size photo, Certificates and Reference document from previous school, before the deadline.
- Any student running for the posts must have at least 3 subjects pass and should not have any discipline record in the past semester.
- Candidates must write a brief paragraph explaining why they want to be on the applied post, what they want to accomplish, etc. These will be copied and posted in specified notice board, for voters to see prior to the election.
- School shall nominate 2 students for each of these posts based on their;
– Academic 50%
– Leadership 15%
– Co-Curricular Activities 15%
– Conduct and Discipline 20 % - School will announce a nationally adopted nomination and point giving rules one week before the school announce the election.
- The students who earn majority votes shall run the office.
Internal Discipline.
- If there comes to be a formal complaint made against any member of the Executive Committee, the teacher coordinator will review the complaint and submit to the disciplinary committee (if necessary). At the disciplinary committee meeting, they will make a recommendation to the school as to whether or not the aforementioned member should remain on Executive Committee or be asked to resign.
- A member of Executive Committee will be advised on the first time the member violates the rules and regulation of the school and regulations set by Ministry of Education. And second time the member shall be given a warning letter.
- A member of Executive Committee will be asked to resign if the member violates the rules and regulation of the school and regulations set by Ministry of Education for a third time.
- A member of Executive Committee will be terminated or asked to resign if the Disciplinary Committee decides.
- If a member resigns, discharged or is terminated from the Executive Committee, he/she will be replaced/ re elected.
- School has the privilege to escalate above mentioned procedures depending on the issue involved.
- A member of Executive Committee will be terminated if the he/she violates the Laws and Constitution of Republic of Maldives.
ACTION AGAINST IRRESPONSIBILITY
- If any student misbehaves for the first time, the student will be advised to behave according to the Code of Conduct and this Constitution.
- Second time, a written advice will be given to behave according to the Code of Conduct and this Constitution. This should be informed to the parent.
- Third time, a warning to terminate from the post will be issued and will be advised to behave according to the Code of Conduct and this Constitution. A written document should be sent to the Parent.
- Even after the warning, if the student continues to misbehave, the student will be terminated from the post.
- School has the privilege to escalate above mentioned procedures depending on the issue involved.
